Trial & license

Is there a free trial?

Yes, and you don't need a key to start. Just download SimplyShot and use it for 7 days, within 10 days of first opening it.

What happens when the trial ends?

New captures pause until you buy or activate a license. Everything you already made stays yours to edit and export.

Can I use my license on more than one Mac?

Yes. Each seat covers one Mac. Buy as many as you need when you check out, and add more anytime from your account page.

Does SimplyShot work offline?

Yes. Capturing, editing, and all the AI features run right on your Mac, no connection needed. Just go online now and then to keep your license active.

What Mac do I need?

Any Mac on macOS 14.6 Sonoma or later. Captions and transcripts work best on macOS 26 Tahoe or later.

How do updates work?

SimplyShot checks for updates on its own and asks before installing. Rather not be asked? Turn on automatic updates in Settings.

Using SimplyShot

Can I capture a long page?

Yes. Scrolling capture stitches the whole page into one image. Scroll it yourself, or let SimplyShot scroll for you (that needs Accessibility permission).

Can I record my screen?

Yes. Record an area, a window, or your whole screen, with your voice, system audio, and camera. Save it as an MP4 or a GIF, or polish it in Studio first.

Can I copy text from a screenshot?

Yes. Select any area with Copy Text and the text lands on your clipboard. It's read right on your Mac.

Permissions

Why does SimplyShot need Screen Recording permission?

macOS asks this of every app that captures the screen, even for a single screenshot. Without it, SimplyShot can't see what other apps show. You'll find it in System Settings under Privacy & Security.

What other permissions can SimplyShot ask for?

Only what a feature needs, the first time you use it. Accessibility for auto-scrolling, showing keystrokes, and resizing a window you record. Microphone and Camera for recording yourself. Speech Recognition for captions and transcripts, which are made on your Mac.

Privacy & storage

Do I need an account?

No, SimplyShot works without one. Have a license? Sign in to your account with your key to see your license and Macs, or recover a lost key with your email.

Does sensitive info detection send my screenshots anywhere?

No. It runs entirely on your Mac. Turn it on in Settings → Privacy, and SimplyShot flags things like passwords, card numbers, and emails before you share. Nothing is hidden until you choose.

Where are my captures kept?

In Capture History, right on your Mac. It keeps a month by default. In Settings, change that to a day or a week, turn it off, or set a storage limit.

Where do my uploads go?

To your own storage: AWS S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, DigitalOcean Spaces, or any S3-compatible service. SimplyShot has no cloud of its own, so your files stay yours. Or just use the macOS Share menu.
